10th Mercedes-Benz Junior Golf Championships
Rules & Regulations
Objectives
- To develop local golfers to international standards
- To create awareness amongst junior golfers that education is as important golf through giving bonus points for educational grades.
- To give local golfers the chance to play against foreign golfers both here in Thailand at the Masters Final and overseas.
Competition Format
- 36 hole gross score stroke play in the qualifying rounds.
- 54 hole gross score stroke play in the Masters final.
- There are 4 classes in the championship:
- Boys 12 and under .
- Girls 12 and under.
- Boys 14 and under .
- Girls 14 and under.
- Boys 18 and under.
- Girls 18 and under.
- Boys 23 and under.
- Girls 23 and under .
- The championship comprises of 7 qualifying rounds with the winners entering the Masters Final.
- The competition is open to all nationalities, however only Thai nationals qualify for full support on the overseas trip.

Note: The Organising Committee reserve the right to make changes to the above
schedule as deemed necessary.
No of Entries
The maximum number of golfers per qualifying round is 150 unless determined otherwise by the Organising Committee.
Start Times:
Start times will be from approximately 06.40 from hole no 1 and hole no 10.
Competition Regulations
The tournament will be played in accordance with the R & A regulations.
The decision of the tournament referee will be final in all technical disputes.
Average Yardage per Class
Boys and girls 12 and under: 5,100 – 5,600 yards
Girls 14, 18, 23 and under: 6,000 –6,400 yards
Boys 14, 18, 23 and under: 6,800 – 7,200 yards
In the event that more than one golfer finishes with the same score, the winner will be decided by comparing the final day scores of the golfers as follows:
- The scores over the 18 holes, if still tied
- The scores over the last 9 holes (10-18), if still tied
- The scores over the last 6 holes (13-18), if still tied
- The scores over the last 3 holes (16-18), if still tied
- Hole by hole count back from hole no 18, until a winner is found.
Note: In the event that there is a tie for 1st place in the Masters Final then the
winner will be decided by elimination sudden death play-off at a hole
designated by the Organising Committee.
A play-off will also be held if two or more Thai golfers are tied for the place
on the Mercedes-Benz overseas tour.
Class Eligibility:
12 and under (must be under 13 years old on 30 June 2012)
14 and under (must be under 15 years old on 30 June 2012)
18 and under (must be under 19 years old on 30 June 2012)
23 and under (must be under 24 years old on 30 June 2012)
Conditions to Qualify for Masters Final
- Qualification for the Masters Final will be based on points scored during the 7 qualifying rounds, there are 2 types of points scored: firstly based on golf score and secondly on educational grades.
- To qualify for the Masters Final, a golfer must complete a minimum of 3 qualifying rounds.
- A golfer may play in as many qualifying rounds as they like, as points from all rounds in which the golfer competes will count towards their overall total.
- The following points will be awarded for finishing positions at each qualifying round:
- 1st place 100 points
- 2nd place 90 points
- 3rd place 80 points
- 4th place 70 points
- 5th place 60 points
- 6th place 50 points
- 7th place 40 points
- 8th place 30 points
- 9th place 20 points
- 10th place 10 points
- Places 11 – 20 5 points
- Places 21 and above 3 points
- Points will only be awarded to the golfers who complete their qualifying round.
- Bonus points will be awarded for educational grades as follows or the equivalent for a different system of grades:
- Average grade of 4.00 20 points
- Average grade of 3.50 – 3.99 15 points
- Average grade of 3.00 – 3.49 10 points
- Average grade of 2.50 – 2.99 5 points
- Average grade of 2.00 – 2.49 3 points
In order to obtain the bonus points for educational grades, golfers must send proof of their grades to Pentangle Promotions Co., Ltd no later than one week after they have completed their first qualifying round. Grades submitted later than this will be invalid. In the event that a golfer gets improved grades during the course of the championship they may submit proof of their new grades which will be used at their next qualifying round.
No of Golfers Qualifying for the Masters Final:
Class 12 and under: 15 Boys 8 girls
Class 14 and under: 20 Boys 8 girls
Class 18 and under: 20 Boys 8 girls
Class 23 and under: 15 Boys 8 girls
The top finishing Thai golfer in each of the 12 and under, 14 and under and 18 and under classes at the Masters Final will represent the Mercedes-Benz team at an international overseas golf tournament in 2011. The cost of visas, airfare, accommodation and meals will be paid by the organizers of the championship. In the case that a golfer is refused a visa by the embassy of the destination country, or the golfer is unable to join the overseas trip due to prior engagements, then that golfer forfeits the right to take part on the overseas trip.

Meals
A lunch will be provided at all qualifying rounds on the 2nd day of the competition.
Lunch will be provided on all three competition days of the Masters Final.

Withdrawals
A golfer may withdraw from the tournament without penalty up to 2 days before the tournament. If a golfer makes a late withdrawal after the deadline without good reason, then the Organising Committee reserves the right not to give a refund of the entry fee or change the golf course. Entry fees cannot be carried over to the following season.

Qualifying Rounds
- Mercedes-Benz owners 1,700 baht per round
(the golfer must have the same surname as the owner of the
car and a provide a copy of the vehicle registration as proof)
- Non Benz owners 2,000 baht per round
Payment of entry fees should be made by bank transfer to Pentangle Promotions Co., Ltd, Savings Account, Bangkok Bank, Ekamai Branch, Account no: 063-007-2890. A copy of the bank transfer together with the golfer’s name should be faxed to Pentangle Promotions Co., Ltd: Fax no: 02-3113498. Confirmation of receipt can be checked by telephoning 02-3113414/5.
Golfers who pay on-site will be subject to a late payment fee of 200 baht.
