The 2 nd Phuket Thailand Open, last stop on the Swatch-FIVB Women's Beach Volleyball World Tour will be held on Karon Beach , Phuket from 31 October - 4 November 2007. The tournament offers prize money of US$200,000, has attracted entries from all the world's leading beach volleyball teams to what is one of the biggest events on the beach volleyball calendar in Asia.

With entries still open, the Phuket Thailand Open has to date received tremendous interest from the world's leading beach volleyball teams with over 70 teams from 28 countries have entered the tournament including the current World No 1 pairing of Larissa and Juliana from Brazil, World No 2 team of Tian Jia and Wang Jie from China, World No 3 team and 2006 Champions Zhang Zi and Xue Chen from China. Also slated to appear are the current Olympic and World Champions Misty May Treanor and Kerry Walsh from the USA . In addition, all the top ranked teams in the world standings have entered for the tournament including; Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Cuba, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the Ukraine.

Thailand as the host country is allocated 2 teams in the main draw and 4 additional teams will participate in the qualifying rounds.

The Phuket Thailand Open is sanctioned by the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) and the Volleyball Association of Thailand (VBAT), and is played over 5 days of competition, with the qualification rounds being held on 31 October and the main draw taking place from the 1 - 4 November. Matches will start from 09.00 daily, except on finals day when matches start at 16.00.

Both semi-finals on Saturday 3 November and the final and 3 rd /4 th place play-off on Sunday 4 November will be televised "live" on national TV and on Eurosport across Europe . The telecast will be from 16.00 - 18.00 on both days.

Admission to the tournament is free, and the programme includes beach volleyball camps each day, cheerleader contests and other activities in the tent village.
