Bangkok Champion Vania King aims for a Thai double in Pattaya

U.S. rising star Vania King, the 2006 winner of the PTT Bangkok Open has entered the US$170,000 "Pattaya Women's Open" which will be held at the Dusit Resort, Pattaya from 3-11February 2007. King who rose almost 150 places in the rankings in 2006 and made her debut for the US Federation Cup team is seeking to be the first player to complete a unique double by winning both Thai events on the Sony Ericsson WTA tour.

In addition to Vania King, the tournament has attracted many of the leading Asian stars including Asian Games silver medalist Sania Mirza from India and Japan's Akiko Nakamura who finished in the bronze medal position. Thailand 's Tamarine Tanasugarn, who finished runner-up to King in the PTT Bangkok Open has also entered the tournament and will be hoping to take her revenge on the American girl in Pattaya.

The Pattaya Women's Open qualifying rounds will take place on Saturday 3 February and Sunday 4 February, when admission is free. Tickets for the 5-8 February are priced at 300 baht and for the final 3 days from 9-11 February, the tickets are priced at 300, 500 and 1,000 baht.
